BROAD believes that speed in modular construction is comprised of three components. Speed = Supply + Sequence + System<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0Supply<\/strong>\u00a0is the prefabrication of the modules.\u00a0Sequence<\/strong>\u00a0is the order of module deployment: Transport from factory to job site, preparation of the modules on-site, \u00a0hoisting the modules into position, and connecting the modules.\u00a0System<\/strong>\u00a0is the entire design-build-install process that underpins an efficient building delivery, including standardized design with interchangeable components, and the entire logistics process outlined below. The Earth Tower project in Abu Dhabi illustrates this formula for defining speed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The UAE has been quick to embrace new construction methodologies and technologies, so it is no surprise a BROAD Holon volumetric high-rise modular multifamily building has gone up in Abu Dhabi.\u00a0 Eagle Hills International Properties, founded by Chairman Mohamed Alabbar of Emaar Group which built the Burj Khalifa, chose the BROAD Holon Building for a 16 story market rate apartment building in Zayed City, a central business district of Abu Dhabi. This is a pilot project that will lead to the extensive use of BROAD\u2019s Holon modular building system in the Emirates.<\/p>\n

The project is called \u201cEarth Tower,\u201d which is a 16 story (1 podium level +15 floors), 164 feet high, 171,286 sf all steel building, with BROAD\u2019s stainless steel framed building modules set on a 1 story steel podium housing retail outlets. The project is composed of 259 40HQ container-size modules set on the podium in a U-shaped building, with 150 units, 10 units per floor, \u00a0with each floor comprising two Studio units, two 1 Bedroom units, four 2 Bedroom units, and two 3 Bedroom units as shown below. The internal walls of the Holon modular system are non-load bearing however, so unit configuration and unit area can be changed any time, and adjacent units can even be merged into larger units.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

BROAD Group Completes Record-Speed Modular High-Rise in Abu Dhabi<\/h3>\n

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates, Dec. 22 \u2014 BROAD Group has completed \u201cEarth Tower,\u201d a 16-story modular residential tower in Abu Dhabi in one of the fastest high-rise construction timelines recorded, the company said Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Earth Tower was constructed using BROAD Group\u2019s Holon volumetric modular system. Its 259 modules were manufactured in 30 days, then hoisted and installed on site in 96 hours, according to the company.<\/p>\n

The project was developed for Eagle Hills, the international real estate firm led by Mohamed Alabbar, who also owns Emaar Group, developer of Dubai\u2019s Burj Khalifa. The Abu Dhabi tower serves as a pilot project for a new construction approach aligned with the UAE\u2019s Vision 2031 emissions and sustainability goals.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis project shows that speed, quality, and sustainability are not mutually exclusive,\u201d said Shun Li, Deputy General Manager of BROAD Holon Co. Ltd. \u201cBy transferring almost all construction processes to the factory, we can effectively ensure quality, significantly shorten the construction period, and reduce construction waste and carbon emissions, while minimizing disruption to the surrounding area of the construction site.”<\/p>\n

Ltd. \u201cBy transferring almost all construction processes to the factory, we can effectively ensure quality, significantly shorten the construction period, and reduce construction waste and carbon emissions, while minimizing disruption to the surrounding area of the construction site.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Holon system uses fully factory-manufactured stainless steel modules and contains no concrete. A bolting construction method allows rapid assembly and produces virtually no construction waste, significantly lowering the carbon footprint compared with conventional high-rise construction, the company said.<\/p>\n

The completed Earth Tower includes 168,128 square feet of residential space across 150 units, offering studio, one, two, and three-bedroom layouts. Eagle Hills said Earth Tower was designed to reduce energy and water consumption through enhanced thermal insulation and upgraded mechanical systems that meet the UAE\u2019s green building standards.
\n\u201cThis development is a breakthrough in modern, sustainable modular construction in Abu Dhabi,\u201d said Mr. Alabbar. Eagle Hills officials added that future towers of between fifteen and thirty floors are already in planning, with construction timelines under six months and costs comparable to conventional building, while delivering major reductions in emissions, noise, dust, and on-site pollution.<\/p>\n

26-Story Jingdu Residential Tower Completed in 5 Days<\/strong><\/p>\n

On January 11th, 2024, BROAD Sustainable Building completed the 26 story Jingdu Residential Tower in just 5 days! The building was completed turnkey, including essential utilities like water, electricity, air conditioning, and it’s also equipped with BROAD\u2019s own energy recovery ventilation system. This building is a new milestone in high-rise prefabricated stainless steel construction.<\/p>\n
